Heart of Georgia West Railroad Click Here to learn how this long abandoned railroad was resurrected for motorcar operations. Ride the rail between Richland and Omaha, Georgia. We have a 56 miles round trip available. Eventually the ride will extend an additional two miles to the Alabama State line. The track offers smooth riding, cuts and fills, lots of curves, trestles and wildlife. Putting motorcars on the rails is easy as the track runs through a paved parking area. This is one of the few excursions you can ride in the morning and be back at your base of operations for lunch. The map below illustrates the available track. Click HERE to download a more detailed, printable track map. Click HERE to download a printable track profile. Come enjoy a night run without getting back at a late hour. The track is isolated on each end to prevent any active train operation. Any funds acquired thru rides or donations are used for vegetation control along the track. We are sure once you ride with us, you will want to come back. Nearby motel rates are $45.00 plus tax per night at the Super Value Inn-229-887-2500. Camping near the tracks with power and water, no sewage hookups is available.
